Die! Prayer

Like David, Jeremiah had enemies and He prayed some serious prayers that God would destroy his enemies and their families. God put a message in Jeremiah’s heart that could not be stopped. Jeremiah was destined to continue to warn Israel and Judah of their soon coming destruction. The people wanted to put Jeremiah in a pit and kill him so he would be silenced about their pending doom so Jeremiah asked God to Completely blot them out of existence.

Jeremiah 18:

18 Then the people said, “Come on, let’s plot a way to stop Jeremiah. We have plenty of priests and wise men and prophets. We don’t need him to teach the word and give us advice and prophecies. Let’s spread rumors about him and ignore what he says.”

19 Lord, hear me and help me!
Listen to what my enemies are saying.
20 Should they repay evil for good?
They have dug a pit to kill me,
though I pleaded for them
and tried to protect them from your anger.
21 So let their children starve!
Let them die by the sword!
Let their wives become childless widows.
Let their old men die in a plague,
and let their young men be killed in battle!
22 Let screaming be heard from their homes
as warriors come suddenly upon them.
For they have dug a pit for me
and have hidden traps along my path.
23 Lord, you know all about their murderous plots against me.
Don’t forgive their crimes and blot out their sins.
Let them die before you.
Deal with them in your anger.

Stay Close

The Prophet Jeremiah was probably a loner from time to time. He stayed close to God when most of God’s people carelessly sinned. God warned Israel and Judah many times that they would be corrected for all their sins. There have been times in my life when I had to stand alone for the things of God. In those moments I built confidence in godliness. When difficult situations happen and you have to continuously stay close to God, talk over every frustrating detail with Him. God sees our effort. God knew Jeremiah’s dedication and told him He would protect Him.

Jeremiah 15:

15 Then I said,

Lord, you know what’s happening to me.
Please step in and help me. Punish my persecutors!
Please give me time; don’t let me die young.
It’s for your sake that I am suffering.
16 When I discovered your words, I devoured them.
They are my joy and my heart’s delight,
for I bear your name,
O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies.
17 I never joined the people in their merry feasts.
I sat alone because your hand was on me.
I was filled with indignation at their sins.
18 Why then does my suffering continue?
Why is my wound so incurable?
Your help seems as uncertain as a seasonal brook,
like a spring that has gone dry.”

19 This is how the Lord responds:

“If you return to me, I will restore you
so you can continue to serve me.
If you speak good words rather than worthless ones,
    you will be my spokesman.
You must influence them;
do not let them influence you!
20 They will fight against you like an attacking army,
but I will make you as secure as a fortified wall of bronze.
They will not conquer you,
for I am with you to protect and rescue you.
    I, the Lord, have spoken!
21 Yes, I will certainly keep you safe from these wicked men.
I will rescue you from their cruel hands.”

Case of the Lazies

Keep working hard.

Proverbs 24:

30 I walked by the field of a lazy person,
the vineyard of one with no common sense.
31 I saw that it was overgrown with nettles.
    It was covered with weeds,
and its walls were broken down.
32 Then, as I looked and thought about it,
    I learned this lesson:
33 A little extra sleep, a little more slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest—
34 then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit;
scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.

Go Buy A Loin Cloth

Jeremiah is known as the weeping prophet. God’s will for his life was to tell Israel and Judah that they were going to be severely punished for their much wrongdoing.  In one instance God told Jeremiah to go buy a loin cloth. And then do the following:

1. Don’t wash it and wear it.

2. Take it off and hide it in rocks near a river

3. A long time later, dig it out of the rocks. It will be rotten.

God used this story to describe the state of His people.

God deeply loved His people. In this same passage, God told of His great desire for His people.

1. His people would cling to Him.

2. They would only be His people.

3. They would be His pride.

4. They would be His glory.

5. They would bring Honor to His name.

But instead of doing these things, they chose to worship false gods and do many other wrongs that saddened God’s heart. And then, as God’s heart was greatly saddened, He had to punish these beloved people.

But today, as Christians, we can fulfill the desire of God’s heart! We are the future generations of Israel and Judah. We can live our lives to please God in these ways.

Jeremiah 13:

13 This is what the Lord said to me: “Go and buy a linen loincloth and put it on, but do not wash it.” So I bought the loincloth as the Lord directed me, and I put it on.

Then the Lord gave me another message: “Take the linen loincloth you are wearing, and go to the Euphrates River. Hide it there in a hole in the rocks.” So I went and hid it by the Euphrates as the Lord had instructed me.

A long time afterward the Lord said to me, “Go back to the Euphrates and get the loincloth I told you to hide there.”So I went to the Euphrates and dug it out of the hole where I had hidden it. But now it was rotting and falling apart. The loincloth was good for nothing.

Then I received this message from the Lord: “This is what the Lord says: This shows how I will rot away the pride of Judah and Jerusalem. 10 These wicked people refuse to listen to me. They stubbornly follow their own desires and worship other gods. Therefore, they will become like this loincloth—good for nothing! 11 As a loincloth clings to a man’s waist, so I created Judah and Israel to cling to me, says the Lord. They were to be my people, my pride, my glory—an honor to my name. But they would not listen to me.

12 “So tell them, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: May all your jars be filled with wine.’ And they will reply, ‘Of course! Jars are made to be filled with wine!’

13 “Then tell them, ‘No, this is what the Lord means: I will fill everyone in this land with drunkenness—from the king sitting on David’s throne to the priests and the prophets, right down to the common people of Jerusalem. 14 I will smash them against each other, even parents against children, says the Lord. I will not let my pity or mercy or compassion keep me from destroying them.’”

Rain

We need rain from Heaven. I like the imagery found in verse 14.

Jeremiah 10:

13 But the Lord made the earth by his power,
and he preserves it by his wisdom.
With his own understanding
    he stretched out the heavens.
13 When he speaks in the thunder,
    the heavens roar with rain.
He causes the clouds to rise over the earth.
He sends the lightning with the rain
and releases the wind from his storehouses.

Best Boasting

God’s love is great for us. Whenever we want to boast we need to talk loudly about God’s goodness! He promises that he delights in giving unfailing love and justice!

Jeremiah 9:

23 This is what the Lord says:
“Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom,
or the powerful boast in their power,
or the rich boast in their riches.
24 But those who wish to boast
    should boast in this alone:
that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord
    who demonstrates unfailing love
and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth,
and that I delight in these things.
    I, the Lord, have spoken!

Overcomer Introvert

If you ever have introvert tendencies and are a Christian, I know a sure cure.

Jesus said,

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. ~ Mark 16:15-16

If you’re a Christian it’s important to fight against your introvertedness. We’ve got to get the truth out that Jesus is how to get access to God.

My church, every  Halloween has spook house called the Nightmare. We focus on the major struggles teenagers deal with and that there is great hope in Jesus.

After going through the Nightmare there is a room where Christian volunteers pray the bold prayer that helps others make Jesus Lord of their life.

If you have introvert tendencies, this is how you are cured in a month!!!!!!! First of all, you have to be a true Christian. Then you are trained in helping people pray a Bible based prayer that helps others become Christians.

When the Nightmare goers enter the ministry room they have just been confronted with the image of a bloody Jesus dying on the cross for the wrongs that all humanity has ever committed. Then the volunteers pray with them.

As a volunteer, you must go up to a person entering the room, kindly meet them and then ask them if they would repeat a prayer with you.

Every few minutes a new group will come in.  As an introvert you must overcome the anxiety of talking face to face with another person and then talk with them about the greatest and most healing words ever spoken on the planet. And that is the Gospel! Oh, and an important by the way…before you even begin your overcomer adventure, you are backed by the prayers of hundreds of people who have been praying for the Nightmare for a few months. You have to use your God-given faith and trust that there is power from all those prayers! Besides you can also pray before every new person you meet (Usually a teenager)

So there it is. I truly believe there is no drug, therapist, psychologist or psychiatrist you could ever go to that could help you overcome being introvert like this opportunity! Because you are working to help God get souls to Heaven! Your heart is with the heart of God so He will help you overcome and then bless you in other ways too!

Rooted And Always Growing

Halloween belongs to Jesus.

I am  about to embark on the best time of the year! As a Christian and a member of Guts Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, we are beginning the holiday season a month early! And it’s ALL to bring honor to God. We’re putting our trust in God to help us through a Nightmare house for Halloween. It requires a ton of effort. We’re overextending ourselves for God and for non-Christians to have opportunity to choose eternal life. God has our back. We look to Him and He promises to supply what we need because we’re working to fulfil the greatest desire of His heart and that is to help people get to Jesus! We pray beforehand, every person that goes through the house would be transformed and after that they would live daily for God. I’m praying Colossians 2:6-7 over every soul.

Colossians 2:

And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

He Holds It All

Jesus holds the world together.

Colossians 1:

1 Christ is the visible image of the invisible God.
He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation,[a]
16 for through him God created everything
in the heavenly realms and on earth.
He made the things we can see
and the things we can’t see—
such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world.
Everything was created through him and for him.
17 He existed before anything else,
and he holds all creation together.

Extreme God

God is a mighty God of extremes. He will be greatly honored by all humanity one day. We will all bow the knee, willingly or not. But God sees and is near to each and every forgotten and downtrodden individual.

Psalm 46:10

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
