Full Moon 5k

My family and I had fun last Saturday, May 10. We ran a 5k. My daughter ran in a 1 mile run. My niece and her family were there also. It was a big running event for Tulsa called the Full Moon Run.
It began in the evening. The fun run was at 7:30 and the 5k was at 8. The route was near 21st and Boulder and then ended up on Riverside. I ran together with my niece Crystal. The view was great on Riverside. We ran on the paved road along the Arkansas River as the sun was setting. The wind was gusty but not cold.

I didn’t know what I could handle. I started out in a pace a little slower than I could easily endure. I did this because I wanted to conserve energy. I focused on steady breathing to make sure I was getting enough air. It was nice to have Crystal nearby. She helped me not stop. I continuously ran for four kilometers and then I saw one of my sons.
I told him before the race that I was gonna beat him. So when I managed to catch up to him I wanted to finish quick. I told Crystal I wanted to beat him. She said, “Then go.” So I did. I smiled at my son and took off. I ran fast until I needed to slow down and walk to catch my breath. Then I ran at a steady pace until I was close to the finishline. At that point, I sprinted until I finished.
At the end I was so out of breath I got worried for a little bit that I might faint. But then I rested and was okay. I finished in about 34 minutes.
Two of my sons and my daughter did better in the Full Moon Run than in their two previous races.
This 5k is not as hard as I first thought. We’re going to do some more throughout the summer.
After the race my family and I went with my brother Phillip to eat at a nice place. It was named Poncho’s. They had a Mexican buffet and salsa bar. The buffet was set up like Furr’s Cafeteria. The food was great. My kids kept commenting on how they liked their food. I can’t wait to take my husband there.
