America’s Beauty: Black Canyon of the Gunnison

Black Canyon of the Gunnison has been known as one of the United States’ monuments. In 1999 it became the 55th national park. This newly named national park is in Colorado. When I saw it on the Google maps arial view photo I thought its name describes it just right. It is a deep black from the satellite view.

According to the American Southwest website there are a few specific areas to get a good view of this area. There is a place called the Narrows in which there is the narrowest point in the canyon, only 1150 feet in space. If you visit High Point the view reaches to around eight miles. The North Rim also has a good view but most people do not go there.
