Walk/Run For A Drug Free Life 5K

Our family left @ 7am this morning to run a 5K. There were just three of us running this time. We had enough time to stop and pick up something to drink (Cappucino, Gatorade) from QuikTrip. It was @ LaFortune Park @ 61st and Yale in Tulsa. The sky was packed full of clouds.

Personally, it didn’t matter to me. Let it rain, let it pour. We were still going. When we got there, there wasn’t a big turnout. Everyone was doing warm-up exercises.
I had never ran in LaFortune Park so the trail kept my run from getting boring. Benjamin, Jonathan and I ran. We started @ 8am and about a third of the way through a gentle but steady rain began and stayed until we finished. I liked running along the edge of the street near 51st and Yale.
I stopped 4 short times to walk. I’m only going to get a better time if I train myself to have a steady run all the way through. This morning I ate two boiled eggs and some chocolate bread with cream cheese and a little Capuccino. I also made sure I took vitamins– multi, Omego-3, Vitamin C and super B Complex. I think these helped me to not get dragged out during the run. I got a good nights sleep and tried to rest the day before. I walked the night before with 3 pound weights on each leg. But I didn’t push myself to run.
Here are our results:
Benjamin~39 minutes and 40 seconds
Jonathan~about 31 minutes 30 seconds
Me~29 minutes and 22 seconds
The run was free and encouraged kids to never get involved with drugs. It was sponsored by the Palmer Drug Institute in Tulsa.
We were finished with the 5k by 9am. Danny had enough time to make it to the church for a men’s brunch which kicked off the men’s ministry for the new church year at TBC. He learned about a couple of events he can go to and hopefully take our sons.
