There are 4 Superfoods that are usually affordable and common. They should fit into our diet . . . everyday! . They are natural and needed for our body anyway. They cause the body to lose excess stomach fat:
1. berries~(dark rich colors) blueberries, blackberries, strawberries (and mulberries)
2. green tea~ contains antioxidants and a little bit of caffeine, several cups a day are good but no sugar, hot or cold
3. spinach~ and other dark leafy greens, I plan to buy a bag of baby spinach for $2 and snack on it a little everyday of the week
4. broccoli~ uncooked, also cauliflower, brussel sprouts and cabbage, all these are cancer fighters too. I can buy a couple of broccoli “trees” and snack on 3 or 4 florets for the day.

Here Comes The Sun :D
It’s what I look forward to all week long . . . the simple pleasure of buying groceries with my husband! We leave early in the morning to avoid Wal-mart shopper traffic. When we went today there were more shelf stockers than customers.
Early this morning on the way the sun had already risen above the horizon. But then I saw it peek it’s bright face out from behind a big cloud. An old Beatles song surfaced in my thoughts, “Here comes the sun” so I just sang it out and then I did it some more and then it started bumping around in my husband’s head and he sang it too. (I love to control him in this way. He loves music and I can get him hooked on a song if I know he likes it . . . tee-hee).
The Roman Road
The Roman Road has been around it seems like all my life. Christians use it to help explain God’s way to go to Heaven through verses found in the book of Romans. It is an easy-to-understand explanation of how to become a Christian. Here’s a website dedicated to it. I told my children that we need to memorize the 6 Bible verses it contains. I’ve had a deal going with my kids that if they memorize a Bible verse they can have a quarter. Here are the verses used:
Romans 3:23~
for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 6:23~
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 5:8~
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 10:13~
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Romans 10:9~
that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (This is the first verse I seriously memorized)
Romans 12:1-2~
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.
A Few Summer Refreshers
I’ve always heard that students forget alot of what they learned in school during the summer months. I don’t want my kids to do that. So here are a few educational tidbits to us through the summer months.

Tequila Lime Chicken Wraps
Taken from Tulsa Kids magazine
This recipe uses Pace Tequila Lima Salsa. Personally, I plan to make this recipe with my favorite basic salsa and a hint of lime added.
Prep: 15 minutes
Makes: 4 wraps
1 cup of Pace Tequila Lime Salsa, divided
2 cups of diced, cooked chicken
1 large red pepper, diced (about 1 cup)
1 large ripe avocado, diced (about 1 cup)
1/2 cup sour cream
4 flour tortillas (10-inch), warmed
2 cups of shredded lettuce
1. Stir 1/2 cup salsa, chicken pepper and avocado in large bowl. Stir remaining slasa and sour cream in small bowl.
2. spread 1/4 cup sour cream mixture onto each tortilla. Top each with 1 cup chicken mixture and 1/2 cup lettuce. Fold sides of tortillas over filling and then fold up ends to enclose filling. Cut each wrap in half before serving.
**This recipe would even be healthier with whole wheat Pita bread.
How Many Pints Are In A Gallon?
I saw an ad, milk in a 1 pint container for the cost of 45 cents. I usually buy milk at a price of 4 dollars or a little higher for one gallon. Here are some questions:
How many of these pint size containers would I have to buy to make a gallon?
Could I save money on a gallon of milk buying several of the milk pints?
What is the final amount of money I would pay for a gallon of milk (before taxes) if I bought the pint size milk containers?
Here’s a site that discusses capacity. It is @ Athens.edu.
Holy, Holy, Holy Is The Lord
If you’re a true Christian, this should be a song to start your day with! It is a reminder, the words of an old hymn, that God is holy, without sin. We are not holy, with sin, but Jesus covers our wrong in the presence of the Almighty, powerful God:
Here I Am To Worship
Christians can add singing to their quiet time in which they just usually read the Bible and pray to God. There are some great videos to help you do this:

President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed a bill which added the words “under God” to the Pledge of Allegiance.
