Winter’s First Ice Storm

There has been a light mist coming from the sky for several days now. It wouldn’t take much, probably 10 degrees colder in the night and snow would come. A couple of days ago the weatherman started forcasting a possible wintery mix. On this early Sunday morning it has finally arrived.

My third son loves snow. No snow came but when I looked out my window early this morning there was a glistening wet look to the grass, the trees and even the barbed wire fence. I opened the back door and touched my toe to the steps. Sure enough it was slick. A dangerous layer of ice was covering everything.
Today will be a good day to stay in and watch church on television. We’ll probably watch Dr. Adrian Rogers or Dr. James Kennedy. I wonder if our church cancelled their services. The news last night warned that they may have a lengthy list of church closings. They recommended churches put a recording on their answering machines. My husband checked our church and couldn’t find out if it was closed.
Today is a hot chocolate day. Our kids will love this. They’ll also probably bundle up and go exploring the ice-laden outside a little later in the day.
