The Mystery of the Hairy-Rimmed Tupperware Glasses

A few weeks back my husband sat down to eat his supper and discovered he had a hairy Tupperware glass. The rim which must touch your lips in order for you to to drink your drink had short scraggly plastic hairs along it’s edge.
Then he spoke a question that we both had to stop and think about. How did these glass seemingly grow hair!? The two best glasses in our house are like this! Our Tupperware glasses are big sizes and are made of the best durable plastic. (I’ve been educated of such truth all through the years when I’ve attended their parties.)

I have 4 hypotheses (educated guesses) that have been bumping around in my head as we try to figure out this mystery. It has to do with four children in our family who have the responsibility of cleaning our dishes. (I can just picture in my head how our good drinking glasses got this way.)
1. Maybe our hardworking, next-to-the-oldest son decided to thoroughly clean the rim with a scouring pad thinking he would remove all the germs.
2. Or maybe our naturally athletic son decided to turn them upside down and push them across the kitchen floor several times while the rims were flat against the kitchen floor. This would break up the boredom that happens when the dishes must be done.
3. Or maybe our friendly daughter took them outside and decided to play with them with her friends. They had a picnic. And then they took our glasses and had races (rims down to the concrete) on the driveway.
4. Or maybe our oldest son, once again bored with the chore of dishes, decided to take one of our kitchen knives and scrape the top of these glasses just to see what would happen.
I don’t know . . . I’m just guessing. Clues from our families past help my imagination to run wild.
Some day, 10, 15 years from now, the truth will finally be known. The old glasses will have disappeared like glasses always do in a family of six and then one of our adult children will come forward and with a big laugh, probably at a Christmas get-together, tell exactly how we managed to get hairy-rimmed Tupperware glasses!
