The Bold Youth, David of the Bible

In my life right now I feel like the youth David who boldly came against Goliath the Philistine when no man in the Isaelite army would. As a family, our income is paycheck to paycheck, and I’m fighting for truth against a giant corporation.

But just like David, my husband and I are trusting in the most powerful One of all to help us. He is God, the creator of heaven and earth and the creator of men who have great talent and well trained intellects. But I know this . . . I pray to God about the details of my situation. And I know He is my defense, as a matter of fact, my defense lawyer and His Son, Jesus Christ, walks with me day by day. Jesus says all power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Would God move in modern society like He did in the Old Testament. God can do anything He wants and if His glory would shine greatly causing men to think of Him. Yes, He would move blatantly and powerfully and obviously today. He knows the perfect strategy to bring attention to Himself if those who belong to Him stand faithful to Him.
This morning I read the story of David and Goliath. David had five smooth stones and a sling. Goliath was a giant man with a strong armour and an intimidating mouth. But David came in the name of the Lord and Goliath died a humiliating death because he came against the Israelites who had the army of the living God.
Here’s my favorite verses from that passage. David boldy spoke directly against Goliath when he was right in front of the giant.
I Samuel 17:
“You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted. 46 “This day the LORD will deliver you up into my hands, and I will strike you down and remove your head from you. And I will give the dead bodies of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, 47 and that all this assembly may know that the LORD does not deliver by sword or by spear; for the battle is the LORD’S and He will give you into our hands.”
