Building Blocks 2007 Facts

You need to know the basic facts of this major endeavor.
–This is a joint effort by Whirlpool and Habitat For Humanity
–This is the second annual event
–This time 9 homes were built in 4 1/2 days
–The 9 homes were built in Guadaloupe, AZ
–300 volunteers participated


–Applications were filled out at the beginning of this year. There were approximately 800. 180 women were chosen and 120 men were chosen.
–Reba McEntire is our impassioned spokeswoman. She has attended both Building Blocks endeavors
–Millard and Linda Fuller founded Habitat For Humanity, International in 1976.
–The goal of Habitat for Humanity is to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the face of the earth by working in partnership with God’s people in need.
–JCWP is short for the Jimmy Carter Work Project. In 2006, this group built houses in India.
–JCWP alternates each year between US builds and builds in another country.
–The first Building Blocks took place in Nashville, Tennessee in November of 2006.
–Habitat For Humanity builds houses in 100 different countries.
–Habitat For Humanity is a Christian organization with it’s beginnings in the Methodist denomination.
–Jonathan Reckford is the CEO of Habitat for Humanity, International. He attended the Pheonix build.
–Whirlpool donates a range (many of them our built by our Tulsa plant 🙂 and an Energy star qulaified refrigerator) to every new Habitat for Humanity home in North America.
–All the major appliances were Whirlpool brand in the 9 homes we built this week.
