Our Little Bitty Family

This blog entry is for my father-in-law. He’ll probably never know I wrote it but I may tell him some time.
My husband and I used to live in an apartment on Brookside in Tulsa, Oklahoma when our boys were small. We only had one car and Danny would take it when he went to work at the Optical shop. We were in the beginning years of starting our family.


One day my father-in-law came to pick my child(ren) and me up to take us to the doctor’s office. (When they’re very small you visit that place alot.) He never minded doing this and he always greeted me with a smile and then gave another “Grandpa-kinda-smile” and then I would hand over a baby to him.
Once when we were waiting in traffic a country song came on. He turned the volume up a bit and told me he liked the song. After that I always remembered it because it was encouragement in my “little bitty” family life. It’s my favorite Alan Jackson song:
