IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER – by Erma Bombeck
I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren’t there for the day.
I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.

What Can I Give Him?
Here’s a site with the song that goes along with the famous poem What Can I give Him by Christina Rosetti, SentForth.net.
This is the stanza that children can memorize:
What can I give him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
if I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;
yet what I can I give him: give my heart.

Ephesians 3:14-21 (New King James Version)
This was taken from RBC.org
14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,
17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—
19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Abe Lincoln Quote About Our Nation
“It is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their own independence upon the overruling power of God … and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proved by all history, that those nations only are blest whose God is the Lord.”
— Abraham Lincoln

Real Prayer of Thanksgiving
Taken from Our Daily Bread.org
“Gracious God,
like many believers before us,
we complain when things do not go our way.
We want abundance of everything
rather than what is sufficient to sustain us.
We would rather be elsewhere
than where we are at the moment.
We would rather have the gifts You give to others
than what You provide for us.
We would rather have You serve us
than serve You.
Forgive our lack of gratitude for what You give.”
Godliness with contentment is great gain.~1 Timothy 6:6
Vintage: 1940’s Dresses and Hats
We’ve been watching the movie Julie and Julia. I love the clothing. It was sharp, classy, feminine and elegant. Everyday dress was nice and noone was ever seen in public in something like “sweats”! It was just the opposite, the waist accented always.
It must’ve been fun to dress up in pearls (like Julia Childs!), brooches, and sometimes a tiny hat with a small veil. And remember the snug fitting gloves?
Here are some sewing pattern pics from a site called fashion-era.com.
