Traditional Wedding Vows

Here are the traditional wedding vows written out. The “I will” parts for the groom and bride get to the core of the promise that was made before God and the audience:
Exchange of Vows
MINISTER TO GROOM:
Do you GROOM’S NAME take BRIDE’S NAME to be your wife –
to live together after God’s ordinance –
in the holy estate of matrimony?
Will you love her,
comfort her, honor and keep her,
in sickness and in health,
for richer, for poorer,
for better, for worse,
in sadness and in joy,
to cherish and continually bestow upon her your heart’s deepest devotion,
forsaking all others,
keep yourself only unto her as long as you both shall live?
GROOM:
I will.

I hope you enjoy this classic poem by Christina Rossetti. It’s a favorite of mine. It is from a larger poem called In The Bleak Midwinter. It has also been made into a song! Here’s a site, SentForth.net.
What can I give him, poor as I am?

Lighting of the Advent Candle

Our family had the sweet privilege of lighting the Advent candle at church last Sunday morning. =)
Here’s our church bulletin.
My husband read from Luke 1:46-56:
~King James Version
46And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,
47And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.
48For he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
49For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.
50And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.
51He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
52He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.
