America’s Beauty: Canyon De Chelly National Monument
Canyon De Chelly National Monument, like many other amazing works of natural beauty, is located in Arizona. According to this monuments website, one of the reasons it is a national monument (authorized as such on April 1, 1931) is because of the rich history it possesses.
Best Books of Yesteryear
Former missionary, speaker and radio host Elizabeth Elliot once said you must only read the very best books because there are so many books out there and you don’t have time to waste.
On the radio program, Family Life Today, on last Tuesday the 24th, Mark Hamby was the guest for two days, the 23rd and 24th. He is publisher of Lamplighter Publishing. He publishes books that were written long ago and have a strong moral thread throughout the stories. Many of these books have been long forgotten but were best sellers of their times. The books have been edited somewhat but still keep the strong moral thread throughout the story.
On the program, he catagorized his favorite books he has published. Here is the program from the Family Life Today website. He put them into three groups:
Sunday School Lesson
This blog is for my couple dozen neices and nephews to give them encouragement in doing the right thing.
Did you go to church today? (I’m talkin’ a Bible-believing, tell-the-truth church!) If you didn’t maybe you could sit in while we have a little Sunday school lesson on my blog today. My husband used to watch a Christian cartoon called Jot when he was a kid.
The Game of Chess
When I was a kid I learned to play Checkers. But I didn’t think it was necessary or want to put forth the effort to learn Chess. I learned last night. My son, Benjamin, taught me.
Acadia National Park
Here are some highlight videos of Acadia National Park in Maine.

America’s Beauty: Canyonlands Utah
Let me introduce you to Canyonlands National Park, Utah. Notice all the unusual and distinct creations that were made from erosion and natures elements.
Loretta Lynn: Coal Miner’s Daughter
Country singer Wynona Judd once commented that only country singer/songwriter Loretta Lynn could make the words hard and tired (tar’d) rhyme. She’s right and Loretta did that with much talent when she gave pride to growing up poor in her childhood through her song Coal Miner’s Daughter.
Here are a few videos (the lyrics are at the end).
America’s Beauty: Bryce National Canyon
Two times in my life I have become aware of an unusual word. It’s the word hoodoo. I heard it once in the song, Born In the Bayou by the old band Creedence Clearwater Revival and then today when I looked up info about Bryce National Park.
Here are the definitions according to Merriam-Webster Online:
Internet Math Games
I found a website with a variety of games which help learn detailed math concepts. It is @ Internet 4 Classrooms. There are games to learn or reinforce math in areas such as geometry, fractions and multiplication. It is organized in topics on the left side of the page which simplifies the learning process!
