John Milton is a famous poet that lived from 1608-1674.
Here are his words about Heaven from a poem, Joy Shall Overtake Us:
Then long eternity shall greet our bliss
With an individual kiss;
And joy shall overtake us as a flood,
I haven't gotten into the hidden-away Old Testament book of Lamentation very much. But I did this morning.
It was God's will for Jeremiah to proclaim bad news to Isreal, God's people. God's wrath was coming to them because of the many wrong things they had done. It looks like the dedicated prophet had the job no one would want. I want God to bless me with a life full of joy. It would be hard for me to accept that as a lifetime goal.
I wonder how Jeremiah was raised. I wonder what his personality was like. I'm pretty sure God took him through certain and specific events in life to mold his personality to handle such a burden.
Here's the passage that caught my attention:

We've been watching the movie Julie and Julia. I love the clothing. It was sharp, classy, feminine and elegant. Everyday dress was nice and noone was ever seen in public in something like "sweats"! It was just the opposite, the waist accented always.
It must've been fun to dress up in pearls (like Julia Childs!), brooches, and sometimes a tiny hat with a small veil. And remember the snug fitting gloves?

“Gracious God,
like many believers before us,
we complain when things do not go our way.
We want abundance of everything
rather than what is sufficient to sustain us.
We would rather be elsewhere
than where we are at the moment.
We would rather have the gifts You give to others
than what You provide for us.
We would rather have You serve us
than serve You.
Forgive our lack of gratitude for what You give.”

“It is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their own independence upon the overruling power of God ... and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proved by all history, that those nations only are blest whose God is the Lord.”

14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,
17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—
19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Here's a site with the song that goes along with the famous poem What Can I give Him by Christina Rosetti, SentForth.net.
This is the stanza that children can memorize:
What can I give him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
if I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;
yet what I can I give him: give my heart.

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER - by Erma Bombeck
I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.
I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.

Ezekiel 39:7
So I will make My holy name known in the midst of My people Israel,
and I will not let them profane My holy name anymore.
Then the nations shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.

"A merry Christmas, Bob!" said Scrooge, with an earnestness that could not be mistaken, as he clapped him on the back. "A merrier Christmas, Bob, my good fellow, than I have given you for many a year! I'll raise your salary, and endeavour to assist your struggling family, and we will discuss your affairs this very afternoon, over a Christmas bowl of smoking bishop, Bob! Make up the fires, and buy another coal-scuttle before you dot another i, Bob Cratchit."
