“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” -- Hebrew 11:6
When Celine Deon begins to sing she takes command of the stage and then she takes command of the heart of those listening.
She was a prodigy child with a passion and great talent to sing and then she was discovered. After years of practicing and polishing the beauty in her voice is magnificent as you must silently listen and watch:
It's difficult to not envy such natural talent. And you must know that it has been coupled with long endless days of work.
But we can thank God that we have the privilege to experience her song and then, if your like me you just pray and wish that somehow God would allow beauty in whatever way is best to come from your own life.
The Atchafalaya Basin is the U.S.'s largest river swamp, containing almost one million acres of our nation’s most significant bottomland hardwoods, swamps, bayous, and back-water lakes.
God bless and protect our soldiers defending freedom!
Never give in,
never give in,
never,
never,
never,
never-in nothing, great or small, large or petty -
never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense.
Never yield to force;
never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.
--Sir Winston Churchill
October 9, 1941 Speech given at Harrow School during World War II
My prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
Protect all the soldiers fighting against terror.
Do you have enemies? Do you respect Biblical truths? The Bible says to hope and pray the best for your enemies. This is hard. And must be slowly learned through many days if you have an enemy that has done a great evil toward you. You must pray every day that Jesus would help you do this and change your attitude and desire.
Mrs. Charles Cowan in her devotions, Stream In The Desert, focuses on the idea that hardships are a part of God's plan for our lives. When hard times come true Christian will pray to God. Hardships a part of God's providence.
Here's an English website full of links to games, lesson plans, tests and ideas called E.L. Easton English Online.or you can open it to the topics page. I found it linked from Chattanooga State Website.
I remember learning about the parts of speech from school house rock. My kids have an assignment with all these vintage videos. There assignment is to define the part of speech and then give 5 examples.
If someone (an older student) needs review about grammar to prepare them for writing the Big Dog Grammar website has some definitions and exercises that can help.
Hey, what are comma splices and parallel structures anyway!?
Today is going to be busy. But I have a special activity to do in the afternoon. I need to make a milk run. In a family with six members alot of milk is drunk.
I have the privilege of living not too far from a dairy. This dairy sells milk the old fashioned way.
You've got to check this site out if you're looking for instructional material for teaching. It is titled Sites For Teachers and has links all over the place.
A little 7 year old girl from North Carolina took action against a robber who tried to hurt her mother and rob the convenient store where she worked. Here's a local news station that carried the story. WSBT news station shows the actual video and what actually happened in the little girls words.
Badlands National Park is located in South Dakota. It is made up of nearly 250,000 acres. The wind and elements of nature have eroded away the soft rock formations and have displayed the different colored layers of rock.
When I was thirteen years old I became a Christian. That means I have been following the risen Christ for nearly thirty years!
There have been three times that have stood out in my Christian walk in which I seriously gave all I could to Him and seriously focused on studying, learning and following Him.
People need the Lord is an old song from 20-something years ago that popped into my head this morning. People everywhere need God whether you're Asian, European, Hispanic, African or Caucasion. As an American I know the people in my country desperately need to think on the things of God and trust Him more. Americans have become too materialistic and prideful. God forgive us!
Baxter State Park in Maine is a mountainous wilderness area full of wildlife. It was organized into a state park by Percival P. Baxter. Baxter was a politician and governor of Maine. It consists of 314 square miles.
I was listening to the Christian radio broadcast called Family Life Today. It was the second of a two day broadcast in which a man named Ben Stuart was the guest. He is the leader of a huge Bible study that goes on weekly at Texas A & M college. During the interview he told how there is a major problem with mainly men that look at pornography via the internet.
We came home from church in the pouring rain. It was fun walking out to the car. My three sons and I went. We had one umbrella that was starting to get old. Benjamin and I shared, except all truth be told, I did hog it and insisted on holding it. We still all got wet.
Our umbrella is getting old. You know how umbrellas start to get old don't you?
Just about everybody could learn to draw better. Mrs. Happy Housewife found a site called DrawSpace.com that is full of information and is set up in a simple format to get you started.
You know what? I'm seriously coming to this conclusion: There is so much real knowledge that needs to be learned that there's just not time to be a vegging zombie couch potato and waste hours watching TV programs that someone thought up and filled with their false bias opinion!
I had the privilege of filling in for a Language Arts teacher today. Beside her desk was a well-worn book. If you see a teacher with a well-worn book you need to get a copy for yourself. It was called Scholastic Book Of Lists by James Buckley, Jr., and Robert Stremme.
Vintage, feminine, conservative, motherly and an old-fashioned symbol of the homemaker. I love all that they represent. When I was a little girl my mom had a pillow case full of aprons and crotched doilies.
A few years back I memorized a couple of Bible verses. I wanted them to come true in our family life so I made them into a prayer spoken often. They were wise, pretty and poetic words found in the book of Proverbs, King James Version.
Here is the Main Objective (a teaching term) for learning this year in our household:
Through wisdom is an house builded;
and by understanding it is established:
And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
I wonder if Mrs. Happy Housewife wears a pretty apron when she cooks and cleans for her family? She probably does and it probably has been crispily starched (:
The vintage apron thing has been filling my mind tonight. I decided to check out the apron lady's website. And I found a sweet little hidden treasure within its pages! But first let me lead you to her gallery of the prettiest little vintage aprons around!
And now the crowning event of my blogging evening. I love this part . . .
These songs are old and some may think a little cheesy. I like 'em anyway. They're the band Firefall from the '70's. They have a good melody and positive words. I couldn't find real good videos I mostly just wanted to hear the songs anyway:
I read in 1 Chronicles 28 this morning. It talked about King David and his son, Solomon who would become King after him. Here are some key verses from that passage that tell of God's relationship between David and Solomon and God:
Mrs. Charles Cowman tells of a poem she had heard about someone who was sick and tired of the path their life had taken. The person was a Christian, God had given their certain burdens to bear. They wanted change. Then they had a dream. Mrs. Cowman in her devotinal, Streams In The Desert (published in 1925) describes it.
In each of the four Gospels Jesus commanded us to take up our cross and follow him. It is also mentioned in the Bible that the difficult things we do in our lives that are according to God's will, will help us to earn a crown that we could give to Jesus after we die.
