“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” -- Hebrew 11:6
My sister Deena is a new teacher at a little Christian school. Last year was a trying year as she took on varied high school level subjects. This year is better. She calls my mom to have long talks with her about things going on in her life.
On June 15, 1957 a brand spanking-new Plymouth Belvedere Sport Coupe was buried in a time capsule under the sidewalk in front of the courthouse of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The event celebrated the 50 birthday of Oklahoma's statehood. The car was filled with several artifacts of the time such as:
When teaching children about real history it's good to pull from trusted sources. Writings and journals are a good way to learn real history. My favorite blogsite, Mrs. Happy Housewife, found a good site that tells of firsthand accounts.
If this blog entry were a piece of paper and if I had a pen in hand, I would write out completely my recent work aggravations and then I would take my pen and start ripping and stabbing . . .
This blog is dedicated to my (favorite, shhhhhhh) brother, Perry.
Ever hear of Jim Croce? He was a popular singer in the '70's who's career was cut short when he died in a plane crash. I found some of his songs in video. I hope you find them interesting and maybe they might even bring back a memory or two. Here's a video on his life:
I'm going in for an MRI today. My left ear has had a ringing in it since the pregnancy of my second son 12 years ago. Nine years ago I went through extensive tests and an MRI to find out why one ear has ringing and the other doesn't. My ENT (ear nose throat) doctor looked at my MRI xray and said simply I had damage to my auditory nerve. That's all. So I considered that conclusive and just learned to live with the ringing and hearing loss.
How did my MRI go? Well, I was a little chlostrophobic inside the machine at first. And they had to give me a shot in the arm in the middle of the procedure. But it was mostly okay. It took 30 minutes.
I haven't been able to get the results of my MRI yet. The doctor's office was supposed to let me know within 24 hours but the MRI place is backed up with test results.
This video is fun. It's Fleetwood Mac Live with either a high school or college band backing them up. This song is so upbeat and encouraging. I have it as a ringtone on my phone.
A great video with three beautiful talented women and Mick Fleetwood coming together to sing the song Dreams. I have this question that I'm being lazy about and just don't want to look it up right now, are these three women triplets?
This is a quick clip that has shots from the movie Never Been Kissed. It is sung by Ally and AJ. Ginny has been sitting on my lap while I've been looking up songs and she wanted to look the song up the song Do You Believe in Magic?. Here's what we found :)
This video makes me mad! Mick Fleetwood is having too much fun on the drums and then towards the end Lindsey Buckingham just goes crazy on his guitar. He totally gets lost in making his great music. Just ain't fair 'cause no one shoud have that much at work! Hey, but I love to watch them :)
There are people on the internet who consider Chuck Norris as today's ultimate tough guy. Here's some of what I've heard.
--When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.
--When Chuck Norris exercises, the machine gets stronger.
--Superman owns a pair of Chuck Norris pajamas.
Just so The Monkees don't become extinct, I found some old clips of them. I would like for my children to see something about the old TV shows I liked to watch. What can I say . . except that, they're just a part of our American cheezy psychodelic history. There's even a kool-aid commercial break mixed in.
Braveness must run in the Martin family. One of the biggest videos on YouTube right now is 6 year old Heather Martin as she sings a Christmas song for her big brother, Shaun who is fighting in Iraq.
Just in case some of you are wondering, I haven't heard the results of my MRI test yet. The nurse, Ruby, knew I was eager to know something so she said she would take my name and number home with her over the holidays. The doctor is gone all this week.
My sister Sharon made a good dessert for our family Christmas party. I kept eating it. My eyes got bigger than my stomach and then I got more than I wanted. But once I began eating another helping I just "made room" and finished it all off. Anyway, I wanted to get the recipe before I forgot about it. It's call Cherry Cola Salad:
This entry is dedicated to my Mom with lots of love
It's all Mom's fault . . . She'd go to garage sales in the '70's when I was a little girl and then she'd pick up old 45 records (they're an inch more around that a CD and black!) and I would play them on our record player.
