Peace

When I go to buy groceries during the weekend, I like to read the signs of churches I pass. Today I read the sign of Sandusky Avenue Baptist Church on Admiral street in Tulsa. I read it and then told my son, Jonathan. I wanted him to help me memorize it. Honestly, I wanted to remind myself of it over and over so maybe it would impact my life. Here’s what it read:
Peace
Is not the absence of trouble
It’s the presence of God.

Matt, The Civil War Soldier

“I’m going to a re-enactment in Carthage, Missouri not long from now.” Matt told me. I was working across from him in the side panels area at work. He’s talking about a battle re-enactment from the Civil War. He plays the part of a Confederate soldier. He is usually involved in about 4 every year. It’s fun to know when he participates in one of these. They’re interesting and bring history to life. They always have them in a place where an actual battle was fought. He had another at Fort Gibson, Oklahoma.

Gifts of God

Time
Energy
Things to do
Attitude

God gives everybody time to fill. The Bible talks of “redeeming the time” and we’ve all heard that we should “seize the day”. Staying productive in life is important to “having lived a full life”– as a satisfied 90-year old person might say.

Jim The Firefighter

Last Tuesday I came in late to my assembly line job. I was sent to the boxer. That’s where the ranges we make are placed in a box. I enjoy working with their team. The six or seven people on the team are all helpful and friendly. I worked next to Jim. He’s an older guy who stands about 5’9″. One of the things I think is nice about him is his wife regularly makes great tasting cookies for him to share with the rest of the group. He always enjoys chatting with me when I see him.

Happy Father’s Day 2006

First of all, I hope all the Dad’s and their families who read this blog have an excellent Father’s Day and make some excellent memories with their loved ones all around.
I want to wish my husband the happiest Father’s Day yet! He’s got qualities that make him a good example for our children. (Some are obvious.)
We have no beer or liquor around because he doesn’t drink.
He has no tattoos or piercings.
He doesn’t cuss.
He has never smoked.
He doesn’t gamble our money at the huge casino down the street.
He takes us to church on Sundays.
He provides for us by making money on the internet.
He’s interesting and we can talk about anything.
He answers our children’s questions in the most honest factual ways.
He has been fixing me breakfast in bed for about 2 years now.
He takes care of all our car problems.
He is firm in disciplining our children when necessary.
He teaches our children.
He reads classic books to our family.
I thank God for my husband, Danny. Life would be much more difficult without him.

Quotes For Success

Hey, if you know a lot of quotes that you can fit into conversation at the right time you can look smart to those around. A good quote is like a golden nugget of knowledge. I noticed at work they are starting to put quotes in our assembly line daily information paper. So I thought it would be interesting to find some more on the internet. Besides these are comments from world reknown successful individuals and I would want them to have some impact on the lives of my four children. I found a good website for this it is SuccessMethods.org. I then researched the lives of these well quoted people so we could have a better idea of where they’re coming from with their quotes.
