Fight the Victim Mentality

My brother has been trying to get a hold of me for a few days. I didn’t want to talk to him because I’m embarrassed from the ridiculous lie that has gotten me fired and labeled me by the company as one who had gross misconduct.
Finally, he got ahold of me. I was annoyed and told him I just wanted to be around my family right now. Then he told of something that happened to him.

The Lord Will Provide

I received a “thinking of you” card in the mail today from someone at my church. Her name is Jill. When I opened it handwriting mostly filled it. Jill and her husband were our Sunday School teachers when we first began attending our church. In the years past of their life they had been missionaries in another country.

God Is Powerful

Fear God for He is mighty. That’s not a Bible verse I just made it up. But I did read about how mighty He is in Romans 11 today:
33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!
34 For who has know the mind of the Lord, or who became His counselor?
35 Or who has first given to Him that it might be paid back to Him again?
36 For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever. Amen.

Your Smilin’ Face

No one can tell me that I’m doin’ wrong whenever I see you smile at me.
Those are old words from an upbeat James Taylor song. He sings about a girl in the song. But the chorus reminds me of my children. Just being around them lately gives me a peaceful smile that will pop up from time to time with little warning.

Life Is A Fartlek Again

The writer of Marathonpundit emailed my husband to let us know he cross posted my fartlek blog entry. I’m honored.
He also added some interesting word origin info. He said that, Fartlek comes from Swedish, it translates into ‘sudden burst’. Like English, Swedish is a Germanic language, so the root word, for—er—you know—must be the same as the one for fartlek.
Here’s the definition:
“a training technique, used esp. among runners, consisting of bursts of intense effort loosely alternating with less strenuous activity.”
Dictionary.com. Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.1). Random House, Inc. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/fartlek (accessed: June 01, 2007).
My life gave me a ‘sudden burst’ of stress when I was falsely accused on my job.

BuriedCar.com

I had to repost this because this big event is only about two weeks away. The recent local news station, KTUL, Channel 8 gave a newstory that you must now have a ticket to attend.
BuriedCar.Com
On June 15, 1957 a brand spanking-new Plymouth Belvedere Sport Coupe was buried in a time capsule under the sidewalk in front of the courthouse of Tulsa, Oklahoma. The event celebrated the 50 birthday of Oklahoma’s statehood. The car was filled with several artifacts of the time such as:
10 gallons of gasoline
5 quarts of oil
Flags flown over our nation’s capital, state capital, Tulsa county and the city
