I’m Going On a Trip! :)

Yeeeeee Hawwww! I’ve got some great news I need to tell you. A couple of weeks ago my boss came and got me from the assembly line. At first I didn’t know what was going on.

While we walked he annoyingly told me he was taking me to the principle’s office. I knew he was joking but I was still nervous. In fact, too nervous to even remember signing up for anything. When we got to the meeting room there were about 10 people there. When everyone finally sat down our Operations Director told us that we were chosen to go on a trip for Habitat For Humanity! (Oh, yeah I did sign up for that!) Five of us were nominated by some other employee. I was nominated by my boss who oversees our assembly line.
The trip is set for November 4-11 in Nashville (I say that with a southern draw), Tennessee. I’m not sure of all the details yet. I did receive e-mail saying we have plans to stay at Gaylord Opryland Resort. That sounds nice. We plan to be there for a week. We are coming together with other employees from other manufacturing plants in our corporation. In fact, since we make name brand major appliances our company also donates appliances for the houses that are built.
It’s been several days since I heard the news. My picture was published in our newsletter. Everyday since then someone will come up to me and ask about about the trip. I usually tell them when I’m going and that I’m excited. Teresa, who likes country music wondered if I could bring her a shirt back. Ron, who’s just about as country boy sounding as you can get, wanted to know when I was going. Regina, whom I see but haven’t talked to in months said she wished she could go. Vanessa was wondering if I was going to get paid for it. Bob, who sounds like he likes to work on houses said he wanted to go and asked me how I got nominated. My friend, Stacy was the first to know. Rhonda asked me if I was going to meet Reba McIntire. This is our second year to go on a trip. I hope next year more people in our plant will realize what a good fun opportunity this is and fill out a form.
I’ve got to start planning for the trip. This may sound silly to guys but some of my biggest questions are what am I going to wear! I also plan to volunteer with some Habitat For Humanity projects that are in Tulsa so that I can get some practice building in. I think this would be something good for my older sons too!

    Mrs. Carlton,
    Hi Linda,
Tell Danny to get well soon! When I read your blog I was right there because I had my Gall Bladder out in Jan 06 but I got the five inch scar version. It was a scary experience in many ways. Take care and it took about a month to really recover from the surgery.
