Everybody sins. Even those who have lived a respectable, faithful life for God. All sin distances us from God because He is without sin. He is holy. But Jesus took care of this major problem for every human when He lived out a sinless life and then shed His sinless blood when He gave Himself and chose to die on the cross. He overcame sin and the eternal punishment of sin in Hell when He came back to life from the grave. So just look to Him with your sin issues.
Psalm 53:
Only fools say in their hearts,
“There is no God.”
They are corrupt, and their actions are evil;
not one of them does good!
2 God looks down from heaven
on the entire human race;
he looks to see if anyone is truly wise,
if anyone seeks God.
3 But no, all have turned away;
all have become corrupt.
No one does good,
not a single one!
