I bought a 10 cent paperback book I’ve been excited and wanting to tell you about. It was published by scholastic books in 1969 and it’s contents were compiled by a junior high kid who boldly went into the editor in chief and told him why his book really needed to be published. It’s original price was 45 cents. Darn, I only paid a mere 20% of the original price. I wanted to save a more ridiculous amount than that!

New Life Live!
My sons are beginning their teenage years. Teenagers are kids in a grown up body. They look grown up and their bodies have the functions of an adult but they have the maturity of a kid. They are constantly encouraged by our society to do immoral things that have the appearance of the good life but are very deceptive and wrong. Throughout my children’s lives I have been praying for them in their teenage years.
I have discovered a way to expose my kids to stupid decisions that people have made without exposing my children to any possible admiration for the individual who did wrong. There is a live program that comes on the radio at 5pm everyday (KCFO is the local station). It is called New Life Live!
The Birds of America
I bought an old book written in 1946 called Fifty Famous Americans. Each day I read to my kids an interesting person who made an impact on America. Today we learned about someone I never really learned about before.
His name is John James Audobon.
Hidden Treasure Shop
I’d seen the shop before. It was across the street from a large thrift store but never looked appealing enough to check out. It looked like a small one room store and I figured it would just have a few picked over items.
I decided to go there.
17 Year Old Poem
As I was cleaning today this poem on folded notebook paper fell out of the sleeve of an old college shorthand book I was giving away to Goodwill.
Psalm 91
I’ve prayed Psalm 91 as a prayer on and off for the past 20 years of my life! I had forgotten about it in the past year or so. But now it’s time to pray it again because a couple of things have popped up in our life that are found in this passage. I will pray the words of Psalm 91 first of all, for my family and then for our soldiers fighting the War on Terror.
Today: Pour My Life Into My Children
Yesterday I cleaned our carpet while the family went to church. For some reason I kept getting a bitter angry attitude toward my life. While I shampood the carpet I listened to Nancy Leigh DeMoss week’s worth of radio broadcasts on RadioJesus.com. (Believe it or not . . . a couple of Miss DeMoss’ programs were about Naomi from the OT book of Ruth and the bitterness she had toward God.)
The New 7 Wonders of the World
And the winners are:
Chichen Itza, Mexico
Christ Redeemer, Brazil
MOPs, International
I wrote this entry for my sister-in-law Rhonda who used to be a leader of a MOPs group. 🙂
Charles Stanley once told a story in his book, How to Handle Adversity. I’ll retell it the best I can.
Pebble Beach
Trials strengthen and build beauty of character.
There is a beach I’d like to visit in California. It’s called Pebble Beach. Today I first learned of it when I read from the daily devotional which was published in 1925, Streams In The Desert.
Here’s Mrs. Charles Cowan’s description:
