The Goodness of God

I’m not a person who bases my faith on emotional words that I speak insisting that God will do the words I say and pray. God exists and is judicious in how He exercises His power.
My husband heard a Bible passage last week in Sunday School that reminded him of me. It comforts me. Once again, it is from a Psalm and the original author is David.
Psalm 27:12-14
12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.
13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.
14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

I like to memorize Bible verses. They are the best quotes for anyone to memorize. When I was still at home with my parents (about 20 years ago) I would write out verses on index cards and put them all around the house so I could learn them. At that time in my life I was dating another guy. I didn’t know what God wanted to do with my life. So I chose Psalm 27:14 to memorize. I would sit it on the kitchen window sill and repeat it over and over as I cleaned the kitchen. Eeeeeschhhhhhhhh! If while I was memorizing it back then and would have known that this verse would be a source of encouragement now, 20 years later, I would have been annoyed with God and would have had a bad attitude!
Trials and tribulations are not meaningless frustrations. They all have a purpose. And in a Christian life God is unfolding a plan. 🙂
