American History: Firsthand Accounts

When teaching children about real history it’s good to pull from trusted sources. Writings and journals are a good way to learn real history. My favorite blogsite, Mrs. Happy Housewife, found a good site that tells of firsthand accounts.

The site is called American Journeys. Some of the writings of notoriety include Christopher Columbus, Lewis and Clark, and Thomas Jefferson. It’s true in such writings you have to wade through sometimes several pages of boringness and there may be unfamiliar words and phrasings but at least you have the source of original history.
I wanted to save this site for our family so I figured I would just go ahead and save it as a blog entry just in case you may have an interest.
