Finding Mr. Right

Our 6am workday had begun on the assembly line. Julie, who just turned 22, would be working next to me for the next hour. Together we would put heat shield foil on the inside of side panels that would promptly be placed on a cooking range. Neither of us wanted to think about the whole day ahead. To avoid the thought altogether Julie always avoids looking at the clock and then occupies the time with conversation and a song here and there if one happens to come to her mind. On this day Julie started talking about how she goes out from time to time. It made me wonder about what kind of man would interest her. So I started asking her about the qualities she likes in a man. She told me a few things then I thought of a scenerio.

I asked her if she would date a man that was about 30, wanting to marry and then soon thereafter have children. The man was shorter than her and had thinning hair, i.e a landing strip with three long strands of hair combed over it. The man was also into finance and just happened to be a millionaire.
Here’s her reply. She said he would have to be taller than her. It is obvious she’s is like her friend Honey (5’10”)who considers it critical that the guy be taller. Julie is 5 feet 9 inches. She said she didn’t want to be taking wedding pictures with a man shorter than her. She said in order for him to be as tall as her he would probably need to wear shoes like John Travolta wore in the movie Saturday Night Fever that had heels of around three or more inches. I told her he could stand on a platform while they snapped the pictures. (Well, Bogart did this when he made movies!) She didn’t agree. She didn’t mind the older age and the children ASAP. When I mentioned he was a millionaire her eyebrows raised, she smiled and agreed. She then added with the money she could go get a body remake. She said she would go get a backside like J-Lo (Jennifer Lopez), an upper front area like Paris Hilton, and rippling abs like Demi Moore. To solve the thin hair situation she would give her guy some Rogaine.
Well, such talk helped our first hour go by and then the rest of the day surely followed as it always has. I just wonder now if she goes out this weekend will she be wondering about such older looking men that she may encounter as her weekend and entertainment activities unfold. I know, I’ll ask her on Monday morning as we meet together once again at 6am to begin our workday duties.
